What do you get when you combine Genshin Impact with Tower of Fantasy? Well, it’s something called Wang Yue. Hey, I’m not against using popular games as inspiration, but one look at the promotional images for this upcoming game, and I immediately thought it was a screenshot from ToF.

Wang Yue… Another Copy and Paste?

The popularity of Genshin Impact has spawned a lot of copies over the past couple of years. It makes sense, with game companies trying to profit off of the open-world gacha potential. However, they all tend to fall flat compared to Hoyoverse’s titan – and I’m not just saying that as a Genshin Impact player myself.

There’s a reason why Genshin is as successful as it is, and it’s a difficult feat to match its quality. Anyway, Wang Yue certainly takes inspiration from Tower of Fantasy combat-wise. Even the character models, clothing, and movement look strangely similar.

Oversaturation Hidden Under the Guise of Inspiration

Honestly? I’m getting a little tired of these carbon copies. If you’re trying to pull in new players, they’re not going to be attracted to something that they’ve already seen before.

Tower of Fantasy was initially advertised as the “new Genshin killer”, but look how far that got. Fast forward, and we’ve not got yet another “Genshin and ToF killer” on the way – not exciting.

We gacha players want something fresh when it comes to style, gameplay, and combat. I’m totally unbiased here, but Reverse 1999 has taken most of my attention as of late due to its unique battle system, characters, and overall aesthetic. Now, that’s the way to make a new gacha!

At Least It’s Free-to-Play… Yay?

If you’re actually interested in learning more about Wang Yue, don’t let me stop you! Luckily, free-to-play games are, well, free (mostly).

There’s no harm in trying out a new game, but we don’t actually know when exactly Wang Yue is due to release. In fact, it’s a little difficult to find any social pages or websites for the game at this current time.
