Zynga has dropped a new feature called Letter Lock for its game Words With Friends. It’s a new solo mode which most players have been eagerly waiting for. There are some other new updates as well. So, keep reading to find out all about it.

What’s Letter Lock in Words With Friends?

Letter Lock is a single-player daily puzzle. Instead of typing in words like you do in Wordle, you slide columns of letters up and down. Your goal is to line up real words in the entry row.

Once you do, more columns unlock, letting you build even longer words. It keeps going until you hit the puzzle’s word-length goal. Each incorrect guess chips away at your hearts, and losing too many means the puzzle ends right there.

Even though Letter Lock isn’t really the same as Wordle, the vibes are a bit the same. They’re quick, clever, daily word challenges. On that note, catch a glimpse of Letter Lock in Words With Friends in the trailer below.

The Game Is Trying to Keep Things Fresh

Yaron Leyvand, the executive vice president of mobile games at Zynga, said that the new feature is a response to what long-time players have been asking for. Bringing in new ways to play is what keeps the game alive and growing.

Alongside the new Letter Lock update, Zynga is also rolling out a Spring into Words event. It has tons of new daily puzzles and challenges. You can play solo with modes like Guess Word and Crosswords. There are also spring-themed rewards, new Tile Styles, and other special events to check out.

Grab the game from the Google Play Store if you’re a word buff.
