Level-5 has announced that the newest addition in the Professor Layton series of games will actually be arriving onto mobile devices when it is released. Layton 7 will be released onto Android and iOS when it is ready and the game itself is quite different than previous Layton titles.
It is about that time once again to round up this week’s Android games that are on sale right now. While we didn’t do one mid-week this week due to covering Gamescom 2013, we do get to do a round-up for the end of this week. This week’s list isn’t the biggest in the world but each game on here is a pretty good title.
Back in July Rovio announced that they would be bringing a sequel to their Angry Birds Star Wars game to mobile. This new game, which will more than likely be the biggest Angry Birds games so far, will have 30 different characters involved and an entire line of toys the moment the game is released. The toys will be along the lines of the Skylander series which will use Hasbro’s Telepod technology and there will be one for each character in the game.
We’ve always though that more major PC-based MMO games should be on mobile natively instead of having to DIY project things up a bit and streaming them to our tablets. While this isn’t about one of those games coming to mobile, this news does indicate a step in the right direction. It seems Riot Games is looking for Android and iOS developers with two new postings in their Careers section of their website.
EA’s and Firemonkey’s Real Racing 3 has received an update that brings with it a new selection of muscle cars for players to collect and race with. All of these American muscle cars are now available and are pretty much the most legendary models and years for each on of these cars.
In other interesting business news, a new report by the IDC has Google Play moving into second place when it comes to mobile gamers and where they spend their money. This move into second place means that mobile gamers now spend more on Google Play then they do on traditional handheld gaming consoles like the PS Vita and the 3DS.
Replay Games announced back in March of this year, while they were developing the recently released Leisure Suit Larry game, that the company would continue the series with additional games in the future. While they didn’t go into specifics at the time, Replay Games has released details about the next one which will be a free-to-play poker game.
Back during E3 2012 we ran into a gaming peripheral that was cool and unique considering we’ve never seen anything like it before. This gaming peripheral comes in the form of Bluetooth enabled dice for use with board games on any platform (smartphones, tablets, etc) that accepts Bluetooth connections.
Remember the old school cartoon called Astro Boy from back in the day that you may have watched as a child? Well Astro Boy has made his debut onto Android in a new game from Animoca called Astro Boy Dash. As you are probably guessing from the name, this is an endless running arcade game where you will be in control of Astro Boy.
The Humble Bundle store has featured a game called Kairo by Locked Door Puzzle which up until now had only been available for Android users who purchased it through the Humble Bundle store. The game has finally been released onto Google Play after all this time and if you are a fan of a adventure games filled with puzzle and exploration, you’ll probably want to pick this game up.
