You may have noticed that we haven’t posted much the past couple of days. That was because we had plenty of meetings over the past couple of days as well as some events to go to. Here in Las Vegas, GameStop held their annual expo which is sort of like a mini E3 and believe it or not, this year’s expo had a decent amount of mobile news.
Magic 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers has been out on Android for a bit now and Wizards of the Coast has already announced an expansion for the Magic The Gathering game during Pax Prime. This new expansion will actually be pretty decent in size with a lot more cards becoming available.
OrangePixel has been working on a Gauntlet style for quite some time now called Heroes of Loot. Up until now we haven’t really had a solid release date for this game but thanks to a tweet over on their Twitter account today, we now know that Heroes of Loot will be arriving onto Android on September 12th, 2013 and possibly Ouya as well on the same day.
During Gamescom 2013 Revolution Software decided to release the first trailer for the next installment into the Broken Sword series of point-and-click adventure games. This is the fifth installment in the franchise and this also happens to be the first new game for Broken Sword in about six years.
Level-5 has announced that the newest addition in the Professor Layton series of games will actually be arriving onto mobile devices when it is released. Layton 7 will be released onto Android and iOS when it is ready and the game itself is quite different than previous Layton titles.
It is about that time once again to round up this week’s Android games that are on sale right now. While we didn’t do one mid-week this week due to covering Gamescom 2013, we do get to do a round-up for the end of this week. This week’s list isn’t the biggest in the world but each game on here is a pretty good title.
Back in July Rovio announced that they would be bringing a sequel to their Angry Birds Star Wars game to mobile. This new game, which will more than likely be the biggest Angry Birds games so far, will have 30 different characters involved and an entire line of toys the moment the game is released. The toys will be along the lines of the Skylander series which will use Hasbro’s Telepod technology and there will be one for each character in the game.
We’ve always though that more major PC-based MMO games should be on mobile natively instead of having to DIY project things up a bit and streaming them to our tablets. While this isn’t about one of those games coming to mobile, this news does indicate a step in the right direction. It seems Riot Games is looking for Android and iOS developers with two new postings in their Careers section of their website.
EA’s and Firemonkey’s Real Racing 3 has received an update that brings with it a new selection of muscle cars for players to collect and race with. All of these American muscle cars are now available and are pretty much the most legendary models and years for each on of these cars.
In other interesting business news, a new report by the IDC has Google Play moving into second place when it comes to mobile gamers and where they spend their money. This move into second place means that mobile gamers now spend more on Google Play then they do on traditional handheld gaming consoles like the PS Vita and the 3DS.
