NVIDIA sent over a whitepaper last night with some of the capabilities of their new mobile CPUs/GPUs, notably Tegra 2. Tegra 2 and the new Cortex-A9 dual core chips have many new gaming-focused technologies that reduce memory usage, improve battery usage and render shaper graphics.
EA Mobile has finally released Worms onto the Android Market which is going to make a lot of people happy. It is a great games and it is available for a hell of a price as well. Earlier in December, EA decided to release Worms via it’s own storefront for whatever reason. Since then everyone has been waiting for Worms.
Back in November we reported that you could play TibiaME MMORPG on your Android device using a client made by one of the player. While the client was a bit rough around the edges, it did the trick. We also wrote to the developers asking if an Android version would be coming and indeed there is, and here is a peek at it!
The other week Kongregate, the internet’s biggest community Flash gaming site, released their much awaited Arcade app for Android onto the market, only to have it pulled off within hours by Google. The reason? It was in violation of the Android Market Developer Distribution Agreement because the app itself was distributing other apps.
See a pattern starting to form lately regarding game releases and being exclusive to GetJar? You can chalk up another one, this time being Townsmen 6 by HandyGames. This is a sim/strategy game similar to Age of Empires or other sim games where you build your town/army and conquer your enemies.
Sony dropped a major announcement today regarding all things Android. The Playstation Suite will be a framework, not just for the Xperia Play, but for future and current Android devices as well as cross-platform integration down the road. This will also be an official store where you will be able to get Playstation games.
While we enjoy saying the ‘Sony Android Playstation phone’, the official name is the Xperia Play and is a lot shorter to say. Taking that into account, the Xperia Play is probably the worst kept secret in Android history so far with the amount of leaks, videos, hands-on and so on which is impressive considering the phone doesn’t exist.
Remember when we reported on Tank Hero way back in December when it was still in beta? Well the developers have really stepped it up and released tons of content to remove that beta label. It’s free and available now on the Market with advertising that’s not too intrusive.
Seriously, where did this come from? Out of nowhere that is where it came from. Square Enix just dropped a massive title onto the Android Market which wasn’t even hinted at being on the way. Crystal Defenders is now available on the Android Market and comes with both W1 and W2 in the same package.
