With NVIDIA’s newest mobile platform, launching later in the year for phones and tablet devices developer support continues to appear strong for the promising new, graphics heavy platform. Developer SouthPeak Interactive has announced multiple games to take full advantage of the newer, more powerful mobile chipset.
Sony is really doing their job well stirring up rumors, first with the Android Playstation phone and now ‘insider information’ from someone close to the project has said that the Playstation 3 could be getting GoogleTV software. While it wouldn’t be hard to rig up your PS3 in some fashion to play on a GoogleTV, actual compatibility is always better.
With news of increased sales we thought we would take the time to make a special mention to Measured Software’s OpenFeint achievements added to their old-school top-down 2D racer, Pocket Racing. Apparently we were under a rock or perhaps sleeping when this was announced a few days ago. Pocket Legends is now taking sign-ups for the closed beta of the Android version of the game. Interestingly enough though, you have to be a current player to get into the closed beta which means you need an iOS device and an Android device.
ShiVa3D by Stonetrip has just announced an update to their game development suite. Version 1.9 now includes a bunch of goodies for all game developers include Android and are a result of direct customer feedback. Nice to know companies do listen to their customers. Well if you haven’t lost hours of productivity at work just yet playing games like Reckless Racing, Angry Birds or the current version of Fruit Ninja, you’ll be pleased to know that the Arcade Mode for Fruit Ninja is officially on the way to the Android version, so you’ll be able to work less while at your job. Great news isn’t it?
Another very notable release in the third wave of OpenFeint games is that from developers Distinctive Developments (known as Distinctive Wireless on the Android Market) with their hit iPhone game Bonecruncher Soccer. A lot of ex-iPhone users who now have Android devices and enjoy sports games have been waiting for this for awhile now.
In the midst of the new wave of games coming with OpenFeint support today and the rest of the week, one such game called Cows Don’t Fly comes from Hyperbees, developered by Kiork. This is an original game with some great graphics, smooth animations, unique gameplay and good music to keep you playing it for quite some time.
It seems as though releasing games in these waves is becoming a trend with OpenFeint and it seems to be working. A press release today states that some developers are seeing big increases in game sales thanks to integrating OpenFeint into their games, some as large as 39% which is what SpeedX 3D saw in increased sales with another 9% across the board on their other games.
Developers Kaku have released a second installment to their original fun and addicting zombie killing game called Shuriken Zombies 2. When you mix ninjas and zombies into a single game it can’t be bad and while the gameplay is simple (just shoot your ninja stars) it is a pretty addictive game just like the first one was.
