nVidia has been hitting the mobile multi-core scene pretty hard lately with Tegra 2 coming out in a fair amount of devices already and the announcement of the Tegra 3 quad-core chip at Mobile World Congress this year. After showing off a working unit at MWC 2011, we were hoping there would be one at GDC 2011 and there was!
[GDC 2011] Qualcomm’s AR Challenge first place winner: Paparazzi. We go hands-on and get a cracked camera.
While not literally cracking the camera on the phone we were using, Qualcomm’s recent AR developer challenge brought in some great games with the winner being a game called Paparazzi. In this game you are the paparazzi and your job is to make money getting the best picture you can of the character that appears.
[GDC 2011] Hands-on with Crimson Heart, another nice looking JRPG coming soon for your Android device.
Tucked away in a booth surrounded by upcoming PC titles was a little game playing on an Android tablet called Crimson Heart. This is your standard looking retro-styled JRPG with nice graphics, touch screen controls, monsters that look both cute and not so cute. Combat, however, looked pretty damn awesome.
Not too long ago we announced before anyone else that Spacetime Studio’s new upcoming game would be called Blackstar. This will be a space-themed MMORPG and will have a massive universe to explore. We got to sit down with our friends over at Spacetime to talk about Blackstar and of course try it out!
Alright maybe it isn’t the Ilomilo for Android but there are a lot of similarities when it comes to Cordy and Ilomilo such as the rotating game world and how the 3D graphics look. Since there is no word on when exactly Ilomilo will be coming to Android, Cordy is it for now but it’s definitely not settling for second place.
A lot of people have been waiting to get their hands on the Android version of Vendetta Online and now the wait is over. Before you get all excited though, there are a few requirements that need to be met. First you’ll need a Tegra 2 tablet, but we already knew that. Secondly, it has to be 7″ screen size or bigger.
Meganoid is a retro-styled platform game with all sorts of goodies included. Brought to us by the ever awesome crew at OrangePixel who tend to make some of the best retro-style games for Android. Your goal is to get through each stage and collect the gems, except half of them are hidden (at least it feels that way)!
We are in San Francisco for GDC 2011 and upon arriving and checking our inbox, we got some great news from the crew over at nVidia which will answer a question a lot of you new Tegra 2 Android device owners have been asking. nVidia’s Tegra Zone is now available for you to download off the Android Market.
Unigine is a 3D game engine that, up until recently, was strictly for Windows/Linux/PS3. Now it supports Android game development with future mobile platforms to be supported in the future. It is nice to see a game engine jump onto Android first when regarding mobile game development, then other platforms later.
Qualcomm and Southern Interactive show off an impressive game demo at MWC2011. Feel free to drool.
Our friends over at Pockett just got in touch with us to share a little exclusive trailer they happened to have filmed at MWC 2011. Qualcomm was showing off what can be done on the Scorpion processor by getting Southern Interactive, a game development studio from Sweden, to show of Desert Winds on Android.
