Burn the City Review: Burn Baby Burn… City Inferno

Do you remember the original Godzilla movies, where he would march through the city and destruction would follow?  Well I do and the minute I saw this game, those movie memories came flooding back! If you like destroying things, you need to try Burn The City!

Title: Burn the City | Developer: Josoclock | Genre: Brains & Puzzles | Players: 1 | Version: 1.5 | Size: 8.3 MB | Price: Free (Lite) $1.01 (Full) |

Burn the City is a new game from Joshoclock. As he mentions on the site, if you like physics puzzle games, you will like Burn the City. The story begins that the cute, adorable green monster is all alone. Why? Humans have taken his family. Oh well, might as well destroy all of mankind!

There are not a lot of directions in the game, which is actually nice, because it makes you play more to figure out what you need to do. The goal of each level is to score the highest amount of damage. When you finish a level,it will list out how you did and how your level score is calculated:

  • Completion time
  • Fireball damage
  • Collateral damage
  • Explosive damage

Despite the simple graphics, it is not as easy as it seems. First off, I kept wanting to pull back and shoot, like in Angry Birds. In Burn the City, you need to swipe forward from the monsters mouth and then place the height of the bulls eye where you want to fire. Sounds a bit complicated but when you get in there, you should not have too much trouble.

On each level you will want to create as much damage as possible per shot but from my experience, it takes numerous shots to level the city! No “one shot and your done” here! As you progress in the game, the city layout changes and there are nuclear material or TNT you can set off (your explosive damage), airplanes fly by that you can shoot down. You can improve your fireballs with YUM, that you eat and activate and you will also need to figure out how to remove defenses so you hit the city.
