Conquest! Medieval Realms Review – Being the big guy on the map

I am a big fan of turn-based strategy games. When I heard about Conquest! Medieval Realms by Slitherine I knew I wanted to give it a try. Overall it is a very well done game and should be in the library of any turn-based strategy gamers.

Name: Conquest! Medieval Realms | Developer: Slitherine | Genre: Brain and Puzzle| Players: 1 | Version: 1.1 | Size: 15 MB | Price: $1.99 |

The objective of the game is simple- conquer up to 5 opposing players by defeating their armies and capturing their lands. You win when you have 80% of the board. You start off in a random location with only a couple of bases. From there you need to build an army, set up some economy, and try to survive and expand.

The game seems a bit slow at first but once you get your armies going, it can be fast and furious. Since you start with multiple forts, there are many fronts you need to worry about. My strategy has been to fortify my strongest position and then advance and unit my forces. So far that has done well.

One game can take a little while to play but the beauty of turn-based strategy games is that you can save it and come back later. I played the game on my ASUS Transformer and it played well and looked great. The graphics are excellent in the game and playing on a larger screen made it easy to move around.

The game has a number of nice options. You can play a quick game or conquest. In the conquest mode, you have 2 large maps to choose from and then a huge number of battle areas to choose. If you look at the images below, each of the red flags represents a battle area.

If you like statistics, the game will keep track of your wins and losses and on which maps/locations. The AI difficulty can be adjusted to provide some extra challenges. In the game there are 9 different units you can build within 3 different classes. Each has different strengths and costs. There are also 7 different buildings again within in 3 different classes.

Overall the game provides a lot of variety of game play and I found it to be challenging even on the medium difficulty settings. Great graphics and tons of replay value make Conquest! Medieval Realms a good value. So if you like turn-based strategy games, I recommend you give this game a try.
