There are only a few applications for mobile devices in that ‘instant streaming’ category of things. One of those is Periscope, where you start up the application on your phone or tablet and using your devices and the Periscope app, stream whatever you are doing in real life to people who feel like tuning in to watch. This can be anything from event coverage and interviews at shows like E3, down to watching someone eat french fries.
Samsung has announced some new, gaming specific features for their upcoming flagship devices. They’ve added or tweaked a handful of things, compared to previous releases. If these pan out, it could mean that gamers take these phones more seriously. The models in question are the Samsung Galaxy S7, and the SGS7 Edge.
One of the very popular Playstation emulators (PSX and PSOne) for Android happens to be ePSXe and for those of you who use this great emulator, you’ll be happy to know that it has received a massive update, bumping the version up officially to 2.0. One of the features that Google Play has been seriously lacking since its inception was the ability to use promo codes. Apple’s iTune store allows developers to make promo codes to give out copies of their games and apps, but it is something that Android has been missing all this time. Well it appears that Google has finally added the ability for developers to make promo codes as well through the developer’s console.
There have been a few options over the past few years with bringing Android to desktop PCs. This usually comes in the form of an emulator you run on your PC over Windows, and not as an actual operating system. Jibe has been working on the exact opposite of an Android emulator for PC, and they have been working on making an actual Android OS to use with your computer.
Sony’s press conference this year at CES 2016 is probably going to focus a lot on the company’s upcoming Virtual Reality headset, the Playstation VR. As for mobile related goodness, there is a possibility we could see a new Android device announced. I’m personally going to say that instead of a new Android device, we will probably hear more about additional second screen technology being developed for Sony’s Android devices.
Another platform geared towards pre-launch registrations for Android games is now available on Google Play called EXP Game. Similar to Prelaunch.me, EXP Game allows users to browse through a variety of games that are currently in pre-registration status before it officially launches on Google Play.
Asus and AdBlock have teamed up to come up with a way to block advertisements on all future Android smartphones and tablets from Asus. This will be built into Android natively, but will only work with the default Android browser and not with third-party applications like Firefox and Chrome.
