In the world of hybrid games we have seen some pretty interesting genre and gameplay combinations eventually getting released onto Android. Alco Invaders is an upcoming title from India Game Studio, ironically located in the Ukraine. The developers have taken a side-scrolling space shooter and combined it with tower defense mechanics to create what they are calling an Action-Defense genre.

Interesting news today that actually breathes a little life into premium games on mobile devices. Recently the story-driven roguelike game Sproggiwood was released onto mobile devices after being ported from PC. Since its release onto mobile, it has done quite well for itself. In fact it has done better than the PC version has done over on Steam.
Mobcrush is a relatively new service for gamers who want to stream gameplay while playing games on their mobile device. The difference between this and what Twitch does is that Mobcrush is completely mobile-based, where as Twitch is not. But what each one does is basically the same thing, which is allowing people to watch other people play games.
New Baldur’s Gate announced called Siege of Dragonspear. Will launch on Android later this year
Beamdog are the developers behind the two Enhanced Editions of Baldur’s Gate I and II, and now the company has announced a third title that will be coming our way soon. Officially called Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, this particular game will take place between when the first two titles happened. In other words it will be a new story after the death of Sarevok but before the rise of Irenicus.
While everything right now seems to be focused on bringing Marvel’s Ant-Man to as many mobile games as possible, including Zen Pinball, the company behind the game actually have another table planned as well. This is, of course, after the release of their Ant-Man pinball table next week. So what’s the new pinball table planned? Well it’s a Family Guy table.
[Update: Released] The first game of Gabriel Knight series set to arrive on mobile near the end of the month
Set to be released later this month for Android tablets later this month, Gabriel Knight is a PC game trilogy that was originally released in the early 1990s. Sins of the Father, the first game in said trilogy, was re-released in a 20th anniversary edition for PC and Mac last year. Now, that remastered game is coming to Android tablets.
Kemco has announced a new RPG that will be heading to Android next month called Asdivine Dios. However the company is trying something a little different and has opened up pre-registration for Asdivine Dios so if you know you are going to be playing this game when it launches, you can sign up for it now.
[Update: Released] Upcoming RPG called Super Awesome Quest will be landing on Android this Thursday
Recently we reported on a game currently up on Kickstarted looking for funding called Legends of Fire & Steel. Well the developers behind that game actually have another title that is heading our way later this week called Super Awesome Quest. At first glance you may think that this is a puzzle-RPG type of game but it actually isn’t.
The creator of Minecraft took to Twitter yesterday to address the free-to-play style of monetization and comments from another game develop, George Broussard, who made Duke Nukem 3D among other titles. The whole thing escalated quickly and actually started to get a little heated it seems.
Interesting news today regarding Gameloft who, up until now, seemed to be doing quite good in regards to making money with their mobile games. Apparently it isn’t as good as originally thought, unless there is some other reason for laying off employees and shutting an entire office space in New York.
