Back in May 2016 we reported on Nvidia submitted a new Shield tablet to the FCC, which looked to be the follow-up to the current Shield K1 model. From what was in that FCC report, it looked like the new model would have been an upgrade to the current one, sporting a Tegra X1 chipset for starters. We say ‘would have’ because Nvidia has submitted a dismissal request letter to the FCC over the new tablet.
There’s a lot of people Pokemon GO right now, and this probably won’t change anytime soon either. Unfortunately, in order to play this game you need to have it running, along with your Location/GPS going, and of course, you yourself need to be keeping an eye on everything going on in the game. This may not seem like a lot, but when you’re running around hunting Pokemon while doing other activities, you tend to miss capturing some of them.
Over the weekend there was some news about Google having shuttered their current standalone headset they were working on, but Google hasn’t stopped working on VR related products, such as Daydream. In fact the company is still working hard on Daydream as well as hardware related products for VR.
The XDA Forums always has some good content to check out, especially if you’re into modding your Android device using ROMs. However, a user has figured out a way to swap out his SSHD in his Nvidia Shield Android TV Pro with that of another new SSD. The Pro version already comes with 500GB of storage, but if you want to increase that, or put in a replacement SSD or another reason, then you can do it now.
Nintendo held another general meeting with their shareholders and while everything at this meeting was pretty standard, there was one item that wasn’t. During the meeting, the company hinted that they were making a mobile game controller. Of course hinting at something doesn’t necessarily mean that it will happen, so take the following details with a grain of salt.
As you know today is Amazon’s Prime Day and if you were participating in last year’s Prime Day, then you already know what to expect. If you’re new to this, essentially this is a day full of big deals only available to Prime members. The good thing is, if you don’t have a Prime Membership, you can always sign up for the free trial and take advantage of these deals today.
Amazon has announced that the second annual Amazon Prime Day will be arriving on July 12, 2016. For those of you not familiar with what Amazon Prime Day is, this is where Amazon celebrates all their Prime members by offering a day with nothing but a ton of massive deals on pretty much everything you could think of. This means you can pick up Android phones and tablets (both Amazon Fire brand and other manufacturers), as well as controllers, Shield devices, peripherals, PCs, and whatever else you can think up.
As a kid, I remember enjoying a few different types, be they the Tiget handhelds, my brother’s Game Gear, or Nintendo’s Gameboy, all of which (plus more later) enabled gaming “on the go. Hyperkin is a company that has been working on an emulator that runs Gameboy games, and is dubbed the Smartboy. “Big Deal!”, I might hear you say. Well, it might interest you, dear skeptic, to know that this emulator is different from just downloading and running ROMs in two ways.
Developed by Lenovo, and created in collaboration with Vibram, there are a new set of smart shoes that could one day be set to enter the market. Among other things, they’ll be able to track both step counting as well as how many calories are burned, allow the user to participate in fitness competitions, custom lighting, and music interaction, and allow users to receive health tips derived from a special insole. Oh, and it also will double as a game controller.
Samsung revealed no too long ago that they were developing a controller specifically for their Gear VR headset. While details about said controller haven’t been plentiful, today there seems to be a few images that are apparently of the controller the company is designing for the Virtual Reality headset.
