Large Minecraft fan site Lifeboat hacked with over 7million accounts affected, mainly for Pocket Edition
Fan sites and generally anything online getting hacked isn’t always news, even when it is video gaming related. However, when they are big in terms of accounts affected, like the Playstation hacks, it tends to get noticed. So far Minecraft on any platform has managed to stay fairly secure but unfortunately that isn’t the case anymore as a major fan site for Minecraft: Pocket Edition, called Lifeboat, was hacked.
Yesterday the alpha test version of Minecraft Realms for Minecraft: Pocket Edition launched and of course we have to get a server for our readers to come play on, build stuff, and hang out on. There are a couple of limitations to Minecraft Realms, mainly that there’s no modding available just yet and there is a limit of 10 users who can be playing at any given time. You can, however, have up to 200 invited users per server. This is why we are saying our ‘first’ server, as we will probably end up needing more in order to accommodate everyone.
Shortly after the release of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, one of the main features everyone wanted was some sort of server service where players could join up and play together, just like the PC version of Minecraft. This was to be Minecraft Realms, which was going to be hosted by Mojang themselves. Of course players of the PC version could always set up their own servers and a lot of players did. However getting that done for Minecraft: Pocket Edition was nowhere as easy, although with the launch of PocketMine it did become easier for sure.
