PopCap must be feeling a bit of pressure regarding the mobile gaming scene, specifically regarding Android. Today they announced some good news though.
As you are probably already aware, the Facebook mobile event is going on right now. Apparently we were under a rock or perhaps sleeping when this was announced a few days ago. Pocket Legends is now taking sign-ups for the closed beta of the Android version of the game. Another very notable release in the third wave of OpenFeint games is that from developers Distinctive Developments (known as Distinctive Wireless on the Android Market) with their hit iPhone game Bonecruncher Soccer. A lot of ex-iPhone users who now have Android devices and enjoy sports games have been waiting for this for awhile now.
In the midst of the new wave of games coming with OpenFeint support today and the rest of the week, one such game called Cows Don’t Fly comes from Hyperbees, developered by Kiork. It seems as though releasing games in these waves is becoming a trend with OpenFeint and it seems to be working. A press release today states that some developers are seeing big increases in game sales thanks to integrating OpenFeint into their games, some as large as 39% which is what SpeedX 3D saw in increased sales with another 9% across the board on their other games.
Developers Kaku have released a second installment to their original fun and addicting zombie killing game called Shuriken Zombies 2. When you mix ninjas and zombies into a single game it can’t be bad and while the gameplay is simple (just shoot your ninja stars) it is a pretty addictive game just like the first one was.
