Recently Google did that corporate restructuring of all their companies, creating a new top-tier company called Alphabet. When that happened, Niantic Labs actually was removed from being owned by Google, becoming their own true entity. Today the Ingress developer has announced that they have received funding to the tune of $30 million from Google, The Pokemon Company, and Nintendo. It is a pretty interesting mix.
Set to release next year, Pokémon Go is the latest mobile release for that gaming franchise. Pokémon Go is the creation of a collaborative effort between The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, and Niantic (the makers of Ingress). Within the game, players are looking to go out into the real world to catch, trade, or battle their Pokémon (much like how Ingress works).
The Pokemon Company has released an app that lets users customized their Android device with all things Pokemon. In other words, they have released an Home Replacement app that is dedicated to changing the look of your home screen, icons, and other features to reflect your love of the Pokemon world.
