Pokémon GO has been available in the United States for only one day, and already memes are abound about how players will likely be led into unfamiliar urban spaces (read: “ghetto”) in the pursuit of Pokémon and Pokémon gyms.

It isn’t always serious with the big development companies when it comes to work. Square Enix Montreal, the team behind Lara Croft Go, Hitman GO, and the upcoming Deus Ex GO, just released a parody video clip of their idea of Pokemon GO. Needless to say, it is a bit different than the current one from Niantic Labs.

For the past few weeks, there has been a bit of a closed beta/field test going on over in Australia and a couple other locations. Today begins the US version of the beta testing and Niantic Labs has gone ahead and revealed more details about the combat mechanics to come with Pokemon GO.

Back in April Niantic Labs started up the ‘Field Test’ for Pokemon GO, which is essentially a closed beta. When that started, it was only available in a few select regions, such as Australia and New Zealand. Today the company has expanded that beta testing phase to include the USA and that means that sign-ups are now open.

Announced by Pokémon Company International, there is now an open beta for Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, though it’s only officially available for Android tablets at the moment. Originally released for browsers in the Spring of 2011, this trading card game is now being officially ported over to Android.
Niantic Labs’ upcoming Pokemon GO game now has another video showing off some of the gameplay you’ll find when the game is officially released. So far we have had a very short video that was leaked from SXSW 2016 showing a little bit of the gameplay, which looked rather over-simplified. Shortly after that, within days, Niantic Labs released additional details and screenshots for Pokemon GO.
Back in 2014 The Pokemon Company released the official Pokemon TV application for Android. Then in 2015 it received Google Chromecast support. Today the Pokemon TV app has received another update which brings with it a few new features, as well as new episodes for one of the bigger series users can watch.

While Niantic Lab may have canceled their talk and subsequent gameplay show off at GDC for their upcoming Pokemon GO mobile game in exchange for additional development time before showing it off, the company did break the game out for a quick gameplay preview at SXSW 2016.
