Nvidia has been working hard on their Android gaming themed device called the Shield since it was originally released for public consumption. Since the device’s launch, Nvidia has pumped out some pretty solid software updates to boost performance and stability with the Shield but today’s new OTA update brings some big changes that make the Shield even better.

At midnight this morning the sequel to Madfinger Games’ Dead Trigger game was released onto the masses of Android gamers who have been waiting for this game to launch for almost a year now. Dead Trigger 2 is now available for those of you who have been waiting patiently since our first hands-on with the game at the beginning of 2013.
One of the features that Nvidia’s Shield was announced to have was the ability to stream PC games to it so you can play those game on your Shield. While the short term goal was local streaming from your own PC, the long term goal is to have streaming available no matter where you are as long as you have an internet connection. This would be through Nvidia’s GRID streaming service which we’ve talked about a few times already.
Choplifter HD is a spiritual sequel to the original Choplifter game, now available on Google Play
One of the game that was supposed to launch yesterday alongside the Nvidia Shield launch is Choplifter HD. It eventually got released later in the evening yesterday and for those of you who think the name sounds familiar, it should. Choplifter was originally a game released a long time ago and this one is almost a spiritual successor to that original game.
So with Shield’s release comes a few new titles to the Google Play store, some are Tegra 3 and Tegra 4 exclusive for right now while others are available for most newer devices, usually running Android 4.0 or higher. Well now that we’ve covered some of the new titles that have arrived, here is a list of games currently available that will play on your Shield.
Back in February we talked about an XBLA game that would soon be making its way to Tegra 3 devices called Space Ark. Well the game has finally arrived as part of Shield’s launch and even though it is a part of the launch, Spark Ark THD is available for Tegra 3 devices as well as Tegra 4.
There is going to be a lot of Shield and Tegra-based game news today with the launching of Shield and the second game we talked about yesterday as more than likely getting released today is Chuck’s Challenge 3D. Well sure enough it has arrived onto Google Play and is available for Shield owners, Tegra 4, Tegra 3 devices and most newer Android devices.
With Shield’s launch arriving tomorrow, there are plenty of titles already optimized for the device. However it looks like two more games will be making an appearance either at some point today or tomorrow. One of these games was actually shown off briefly during CES 2013 when Nvidia was showing off Shield for the first time.
Nvidia’s Tegra 4 Android-powered handheld gaming device Shield will be officially launching tomorrow. For those of you who pre-ordered one of these, shipping of your orders will also begin tomorrow which means you should have your hands on your new Shield in a matter of days.
After a recent hardware issue that delayed Nvidia’s upcoming Android powered handheld gaming system called Shield, Nvidia has announced that things are finally underway and that pre-orders and anyone else who is planning to order the Shield between now and before the device’s release can expect units to begin shipping out on July 31st, 2013.
