All About The New New Lite Edition of Construction Simulator® 4

May 28 marked the release of the long-awaited fourth entry in the Construction Simulator® series, following a lengthy seven year wait since the third. It brought with it a ton of additions and improvements, making it a perfect option for veterans and newcomers alike.

And now, you can check it out entirely without cost, thanks to Construction Simulator® 4 Lite. This free-to-play version gives you a taste of the action before you purchase, charging you a mere $5 if you like it. You won’t lose any progress either, as it simply upgrades to the full version.

So what’s new in the fourth entry? Well, a new setting for one. It takes place in the fictional area of Pinewood Bay, which features a huge map in a first for the series. It’s broken up into three large areas, which each highlight the diversity of the Canadian-inspired location.

As Maik Flade, PR Manager at astragon puts it: “There’s plenty to explore amidst the stunning natural scenery, offering a diverse and immersive environment for players.”

There’s plenty more where that came from too. Expect to complete over 100 construction jobs in over 80 different vehicles – that’s 30 more than the third entry. All of them are fully licensed too, featuring the likes of Kenworth, Mack Trucks, and Palfinger.

Vehicle selection provides a tactical slant in the fourth entry. As Flade puts it: “Depending on the job, players have multiple options and are responsible for selecting the best equipment.”

That includes a whole new option, too: “For the first time, concrete pumps are included, adding one of the most impressive pieces of construction machinery to the game,” finishes Flade.

Perhaps the most exciting new addition is cooperative multiplayer, which allows you and a friend to partner up and tackle the challenges together. That’s a first for the series on mobile, and one that Flade and the team are super excited about.

Flade has this to say about the new mode: “One of our key pillars in the game is the cooperative experience, so teamwork is essential for successfully mastering construction projects.

“We are very proud of our development team for making this feature possible.”

Let’s expand more on the new setting though, which draws a healthy amount of inspiration from Canada. Not only does this result in a more picturesque setting, but there are gameplay adjustments too.

“There’s plenty to explore amidst the stunning natural scenery, offering a diverse and immersive environment for players,” says Flade.

In terms of those gameplay changes, Pinewood Bay offers you the opportunity to build “roads alongside a waterfall, constructing an iconic lighthouse, creating a maritime museum, and developing a camp with wooden cabins.”

There are some amongst you that might be intimidated to join a series that’s been going this long. New gameplay features and optimisations have arrived with each new entry, adding up to an intimidating experience.

Fear not though, for a nifty in-game instructor will help teach you the basics. As Flade puts it: “Players do not need to learn everything on their own. An instructor is available to guide you through the initial steps.”

At this point, you’re probably sold. If so, head on over to the App Store or Google Play to grab Construction Simulator® 4 Lite. If you like it, simply upgrade for the price of a coffee at $5.
