Animal Crossing will still launch on Android this year

Animal Crossing on Android.

In a recent interview with Vice, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that Animal Crossing will still launch on Android this year.

We’re not far away from learning more about the game either, according to Reggie. Here’s an excerpt.

Animal Crossing development continues quite strongly, the teams are very excited about what they have. It’s an application that is going to launch this year, as we’ve committed. And we’ll be sharing more information in due course.

[We] believe that the application will help broaden the user base for Animal Crossing, and it’s going to end up having a positive impact on our dedicated video game business of Animal Crossing.

Animal Crossing isn’t the only Nintendo franchise coming to Android

Reggie also commented on the success of Pokemon GOSuper Mario Run, and Fire Emblem Heroes so far. Nintendo is happy with the mobile’s impact on its business, and that’s great news for Android gamers.

It suggests that Nintendo has plans to bring more franchises to mobile. So who even needs a Switch? We’ve even got The Legend of Zelda arriving next year, so mobile is clearly the place to be for Nintendo fans.
