The latest game to be added to the Sega Forever collection is hack and slash title Golden Axe. For those of you who somehow have never heard of Golden Axe before – it’s basically a medievel themed side-scrolling beat-em-up. Think Streets of Rage but with dragons instead of huge blokes with pipes.
You can play as three characters – Gilius Thunderhead the axe-wielding Dwarf, Ax Battler the Barbarian with a broadsword, or Tyris Flare the Amazon woman with particularly powerful spells.
If you don’t know what Sega Forever is by the way, allow me to explain. It’s basically an ever growing collection of Sega titles from every console era. All the titles are free-to-play, although you can pay to remove the ads.
A Golden Axe to grind
There are loads of added gubbins of course. Leaderboards, cloud saves, and controller support – they’re all present and correct.
