Sharp to bring glasses-free 3D Android phones to the US

Only about a week or so ago we reported on Sharp announcing that they would be releasing glasses-free 3D Android phones in Japan. Well news from Sharp today has the company announcing that they will also be bringing these 3D phones across the big blue puddle and will be made available here in the US in 2011.

The Galapagos phones which have already been released in Japan sport some pretty decent specs too aside from the 3D glasses-free feature.

Specs:

  • Android 2.2
  • 1GHz processor
  • 3.8″ screen (3D glasses-free)
  • 800×400 resolution
  • 9.6 Megapixel camera on the non-qwerty version (003SH)
  • Shoot video at 720p (003SH)
  • 8 Megapixel camera on the slider (005SH)
  • Physical slide-out keyboard (005SH)
  • 512MB on board memory

Also if you remember that in Japan these two Galapagos phones also were being launched with some serious gaming power from some heavy hitters in the industry such as Capcom. Titles include: Resident Evil: Degeneration, Mobile Powerful Pro Baseball 3D, Mega-Man, Taiko no Tatsujin, SILPHEED Alternative,  Ghost ‘n Goblins: Gold Knights and Reikai Denwa. It’ll have a few movies available as well like Shrek Forever After and Battle Royale 3D.

Now we will definitely be trying to get our hands on one. Would definitely be interesting playing games in 3D on one of these phones.
