Well that certainly didn’t take long and it really isn’t a surprise but in case you haven’t yet noticed, the Kickstarter project for Shadowrun Returns, the newest iteration of the classic and epic RPG from back in the day, has reached their Kickstater goal of $400,000 in just under two days. So what does this mean?
This means that Shadowrun Returns will be developed and making it’s way to the PC as well as Android and iOS tablets when it is released. This is great news for anyone who has been hoping this would get full funding and are fans of the Shadowrun games. For those of you unfamiliar with the old console/PC RPG, basically it is a futuristic fantasy game with a fairly open and dynamic world. It was hugely popular when it was released.
This new version of the game will be a “graphically rich 2D turn-based single player game with deep story interaction, meaningful character development, and highly-contextual tactical combat”, as the Kickstarter page states. It sounds like the developers, who happen to be a very experienced team in the gaming industry, will be bringing the game back to its former glory only this time Android and iOS tablets will be getting the game as well.
There is still a ridiculous 23 days to go as well so it will be interesting to see what the developers do with the extra money. We will keep you posted if there is an update, possibly new features thanks to the extra funds this Kickstarter project should receive?
Update April 5th, 2012 12:56PM: Quick update, the developers have posted a video update now that the game has been so quickly funded successfully. They mention some possible new features they would like to add such as PvP, Co-op play and more. Check it out in the above video!
