Former Call of Duty strategist opens up Robotoki Studios

Some interesting news today in terms of new game development studios opening up. Robert Bowling, former Call of Duty strategist, has decided to break out on his own and open up his own game development studio team called Robotoki Studios.

Robotoki Studios will be building games for PC, next-gen consoles and mobile platforms. While they haven’t announced what their first release will be, Robert did mention what their strategy will be when it comes to building games. His new studio will only partner with those that support an environment in which creative vision holders have complete control over their work. Generally that is the benefit of running your own company anyway.

Their time line for game development is a good one as well, focusing on building the universe for a title, then moving onto experiences within the game before lastly working out the details of the actual game mechanics. According to Robert, this will allow their games to transcend platforms and offer unique features regardless of what a player is playing on.

As Robert describes it, Robotoki wants to make mobile games that just aren’t clones of their console brethren, that an experience shouldn’t be strictly single-player, co-op, or multiplayer, but should be fueled by a player’s “actions and contributions” in each of those categories. Overall it seems like a very unique idea so whatever their first title will be should be a good one in order to leave an impression on gamers that this studio has something unique to offer.

Robotoki plans to announce their first game sometime this year.
