Qualcomm confirms the Snapdragon S4 Pro will be in an upcoming LG device

Bouncing over to a little hardware news right now, rumors of an LG device that would soon be arriving with a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip have been confirmed in a statement released by Qualcomm today. The Qualcomm APQ8064 processor will indeed be arriving in an upcoming LG smartphone later this year.

While the unnamed LG phone will initially be released in Korea in September, a global launch will follow soon after that. This phone will also support LTE as well. This is the second phone slated to ship with this chip in the Fall of this year, the second being the rather beefy (spec-wise) Xiaomi MI-TWO. Check out the official statement below:

Qualcomm will supply the latest Snapdragon™ S4 Pro platform to LG, enabling LG’s new quad-core smartphone, which is currently in production with anticipated commercial availability in Korea in September and global rollout to follow. This smartphone will be the newest commercial and global device to offer a quad core CPU Snapdragon S4 processor along with 3G/LTE multi-mode capabilities, delivering a superior mobile experience for voice, web browsing, games, user interfaces and other graphics applications.

It looks like Fall of this year will see the multi-core battle finally starting to hear up. So, should this device land on your carrier, who would be interested in nabbing it? Mind you we don’t know any other real specs at this time.
