Google Play sale coming today to celebrate 25 billion downloads

If you remember back near the end of 2011 the Google Play store crossed the 10 billion download threshold for overall downloads of apps and games. When that happened, Google put on a ten day sale which featured new games and applications on sale for $0.10 each day. You may also remember how ridiculously popular that sale was and how everyone had hoped Google would do it again at some point. Well it looks like that will become a reality starting today to celebrate passing 25 billion downloads.

According to a post on the official Android blog, Google Play has around 675,000 apps and games that have now been downloaded over 25 billion times in total. To celebrate crossing this new mark in downloads, Google will be putting on another crazy sale of the Google Play store. It won’t be ten days long like the last one though. Instead it will only be 5 days long but each of those days will have a selection of games, applications, books and albums. The sale will work a little differently this time as well structure-wise.

While there will be a selection of games and applications from top developers each day available for a mere $0.25, there will also be 25-themed collections on sale such as 25 banned books or 25 movies you must own. This will also apply to music albums as well and magazines. These 25-themed collections will be available at special prices for you to pick up during the sale.

As of right now the sale hasn’t started yet but it is slated to go live later today. When it does, we will update this post to let everyone know. Hopefully you have a few dollars available over the next five days to snag some of these deals.
