Phyken Media has officially announced their new upcoming tactics style strategy game Wizard Ops Tactics. This isn’t your ordinary military or RPG style tactical game though. For starters all the visuals are rendered in 3D, something you don’t see often with tactical style game. There also happens to be plenty of humor meshed into everything as well.
Players will pick their favorite wizards, equipped with some pretty interesting powers and skill, before heading out into the field of battle against other players. It isn’t just you and your wizard heading into combat though. You will also have to build up your own wizard army as well. You will have plenty of options available because according to Phyken Media, ther are over 140,000 unique Army combinations to choose from.
On top of the rather huge amount of army combinations to choose from, each one has their own unique unlockable spells and enhancements for further possibilities. When you actually get onto a map to fight, each one has different objectives to achieve and hazards to avoid. Since this is a multiplayer game, Wizard Ops Tactics comes with both pass-n-play multiplayer using a single device as well as online multiplayer.
Unfotunately we don’t have any sort of exact release date for Wizard Ops Tactics just yet. We do know it is being shown off at GDC 2013 next week so we should see more of this game and learn more details about it soon. Until then you can always check out Wizard Ops, the original game by Phyken Media which features Michael Winslow from Police Academy doing the sound effects.
Update March 20th, 2013 12:05pm: It appears that Wizard Ops Tactics is currently available on Google Play but is undergoing a location-based soft launch/open beta type of thing. So while most countries can’t download the game right now, some are able to grab a copy. Confirmed Countries: Canada.
