Rovio gearing up to begin releasing third party games soon

Rovio has been hinting at getting into publishing third party games onto iOS and Android for some time now and it looks like these plans may finally be coming to life. In fact the company has announced what this spin-off will be, officially naming it Rovio Stars. Under Rovio Stars, the company plans to release third party games submitted to them.

While there is still now exact release date for when the first games will be published, the company has mentioned a few titles that should be making their way soon to both platforms. As of right now Rovio has two games publicly known that will be published under Rovio Stars: Tiny Thief by Ant 5 and Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage by Nitrome.

Neither game has a release date for either platform but it is probably a good thing that Rovio is getting into third-party publishing. Angry Birds can only carry you so far for so long.
