Minecraft: Pocket Edition beta testers, version 0.11.0 beta is now available for download

For those of you that are a part of the Minecraft: Pocket Edition public beta testing group, there is some good news for you today as the first beta for version 0.11.0 has been uploaded onto Google Play this morning. For those of you who missed our previous coverage as to what will be arriving with version 0.11.0, there are some pretty cool features we’ve been wanting to show up that are finally, hopefully, going to make the cut for the official release of 0.11.0.

Instead of diving deep into what will be coming with version 0.11.0 again, here is a more quick list of what to expect to find. Skins will finally be a thing in version 0.11.0, officially that is. The best part about this feature, besides everyone not looking like each other, is the fact that the skins for MCPE will use the same file types as the PC version. That means your PC Minecraft skins should work with MCPE. There will also be a female default skin people can choose named Alex. If you don’t want to make your own skins, Minecraft will be releasing skin packs for purchase with different skins you can use. This skin packs feature won’t be in this beta build though.

Boats will also be arriving in version 0.11.0 and this includes all the different variants of color which depends on the wood you use to build your boat with. In order to use a boat though, players will also have to craft a paddle so you can actually go somewhere while sitting in your shiny new boat. Other details about boats includes:

– Larger in size than normal Minecraft boats
– Crafting recipe may require 5 logs rather than wood planks.
– Will not be destroyed when encountering a lily pad.
– Has an interface.
– Can sprint in boats.
– Can support two riders, including passive mobs.

The new Pressed Dirt blocks will be included in version 0.11.0 as well so you can build better looking dirt roads and pathways. Cave Spiders will be making their debut in Minecraft: Pocket Edition as well as potion effects. There are a couple of things to note about potion effects though. Players will need to remember that potions, the actual items, will not be in the game. At least not just yet. Only the potion/status effects will be added. There will be four added in version 0.11: Jump, Speed, Resistance, and Poison.

There will also be plenty of new tweaks and a new World Edit screen for players to enjoy with this new version. Remember though, this is a beta build release and not an official release. This means that if you are not a part of the MCPE beta testing group, you won’t see version 0.11.0 available on Google Play for download. As for when the official release of version 0.11.0 will be, nothing concrete has been announced as of yet. If you wish to join the beta group, just follow the step below:

1) Join the Google+ community
2) Opt into the Minecraft Pocket Edition Beta
3) Make sure you have an Android device that can run Minecraft Pocket Edition.
4) You also must own the full version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, not the free demo.
