SEGA has removed a bunch of games that no longer meet their standards

Last week SEGA announced it would be killing off games on Android and iOS that ‘no longer meets their standards’ and now SEGA had gone ahead and removed the games they feel fit into that category. Out of both platforms, iOS and Android, iOS was hit a lot harder, mainly because they had more SEGA titles. However, Android lost a few as well.

After Burner Climax is gone as is Jet Set Radio on Android while iOS users lost a lot more, mainly due to the compatibility problems presented by iOS 8. Android users actually have a lot of the games still available that iOS lost, which means those particular games met SEGA’s standards.

It is important for us to ensure that all of our fans, regardless of platform or operating system, have a great playing experience and after evaluating our complete list of titles, we have determined that a number of them no longer meet our standards. – SEGA

If you purchased After Burner Climax or Jet Set Radio, SEGA has promised that users who purchased these games will be able to re-download them even though they have been pulled from Google Play. So if you get a new Android device and want to play Jet Set Radio, you will still be able to do that. SEGA hasn’t ruled out that these games may return in full in the future if they can be upgraded to meet their standards, mind you chances are pretty slim.
