News

Square Enix’s open beta for Final Fantasy Type-0 Online launches this month in China. Other regions to follow after.

Today seems to have a decent amount of Square Enix news, with this little tidbit of Final Fantasy goodness being the latest. Back in September 2015 we reported on Square Enix who had revealed at that time that they were working on Final Fantasy Type-0 Online which would be coming to mobile devices at some point in the future. Well it looks like that is getting close to becoming a reality.

What’s even better is that when we reported on this game originally, we were unsure as to whether the West would be getting a release. This, too, has also been confirmed with today’s news. For those of you who missed our previous coverage, Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is essentially the multiplayer mode from the original Final Fantasy Type-0 game, but made into an entire separate game itself. Unfortunately there isn’t a ton of details still about this game, although we do know it will feature 3D visuals and be an action-rpg at its core.

If you’ve been waiting for this game to arrive, it looks like that wait is getting closer to being over. Right now Square Enix has the open beta for Final Fantasy Type-0 Online starting this month in China. However, it will expand to other regions in the following months, with Europe, North America and Japan all getting the open beta at some point. This inevitably also confirmed its Western release as being true.

We will be keeping an eye out for this game at E3 2016 next week. In the meantime, if you missed the reveal trailer, you can check it out below. We will post an update once we get more specific details about the open beta dates for other regions.
