Best New Android Games this Week: Woven Pocket Edition, Samarost, My Hero Academia, and More

It’s funny how stuff comes in pairs. This week, we’ve got two point-and-click adventure games, in the form of Unholy Adventure and Samarost, and two cutesy, kid-oriented 3D adventure games in the form of Woven Pocket Edition and Woodle Tree Adventures Deluxe.

Rounding out the list is My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, giving the week’s output an average recommended age rating of about 9.

Enjoy!

Unholy Adventure

Leveraging the horror potential of smartly dressed rabbits, Unholy Adventure is a point-and-click adventure game with a spooky vibe. It sees you helping a bespectacled character called Peter to find out what happened to his wife, why there’s a storm, and why the city has been overtaken by giant rats. All pressing questions.

Samorost 1

As advertised a few weeks ago, Amanita has finally completed its backwards Samarost re-release mission by publishing a touchscreen-optimised version of Samarost 1. Available free of charge, Samarost sees you helping a strangle little gnome to avert the destruction of his home world by changing the flight path of a planetoid.

Woven Pocket Edition

Woven is one of those cutesy, cuddly games in which you play as a character made out of some kind of fabric. Your goal is to help a stuffed elephant called Stuffy to work out why his world has been rocked by machines. Helping him is, uh-oh, a machine – a metal firefly called Glitch. As you play you’ll unlock body modifications, such as rabbit legs, allowing you to become an unspeakable – but powerful – hybrid monstrosity.

My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero

My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, based on the popular anime, sees you exploring the city of Honei, bashing villains. You’ll collect characters from the My Hero Academia series, controlling the likes of Bakugo, Todoroki, All Might, and others, using abilities like anti-gravity, sound blasts, and more.

Woodle Tree Adventures Deluxe

Like Woven, Woodle Tree Adventures Deluxe is an optimised smartphone port of a relatively popular console game aimed at youngsters. This time around you’re playing as a log, which is significantly less cuddly than a stuffed elephant but just as cute. As you explore the game’s eight worlds you’ll unlock abilities and experience some so-so platform gameplay.
