Everything You Need to Know About Pokemon Go’s Fifth Birthday Events

As if Pokemon Go has been out for five years. Time flies when you’re wandering around in the real-world trying to catch AR pocket monsters, eh? To celebrate turning the big five-no, Niantic is running a whole bunch of events.

And we figured you’d probably like to know what they are. So here’s a big list of everything that’s happening for Pokemon Go’s fifth birthday.

  • Darumaka and Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon will appear more often in the wild. There’s a chance of finding a shiny Darumaka too
  • You’ll find Darumaka, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, and Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon in one-star raids
  • Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will be appearing around PokéStops with active Lure Modules and after you complete Field Research.
  • There are daily bonus Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.
  • Completing the Collection Challenge for the event gets you an encounter with Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon plus a Rare Candy and loads of Poke Balls.
  • Fireworks are back, and they’re going to look cooler because of new real-time sky effects.
  • Shiny Meltan might pop up when you activate a Mystery Box.
  • The Jump-Start Special Research is available again.
  • Fifth anniversary Gift stickers are available when you spin PokeStops and open gifts. You can grab them in the shop too.
  • You can expand your Item Bag to 3500.
  • Special Box, Ultra Box and Adventure Box will have new items in them.
  • All Lure Modules will last an hour.

All of this runs from today until Thursday July 15th at 8pm local time. So if you want to get involved, you’ve got about ten days.
