The Best New Games for Android This Week – Potion Party, Skeletal Avenger and More

Another week is withering on the vine, shedding its flesh to the sodden ground. Which means it’s time for us to take a long hard look at the very best games that came out for Android over the past seven days.

After last week’s disappointing fare, this time round things are a little better. In that we’ve at the very least managed to find five games that we reckon are worth your time.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store – they’re all premium unless otherwise noted. If you’ve spotted something decent and new that you think people should be playing, let us and them know in the comments section.

This Is the President

Questions of emphasis aside (this IS the President? THIS is the President? This is THE President?) this one sees you trying to save your political career via the medium of skullduggery. It’s a strategy management game that sees you hiring assassins, bribing people and generally doing your best to make sure the truth never comes out.

Potion Party

An arcade shop simulator that sees you brewing potions for the adventurers who come calling. You’re blending ingredients, earning cash, upgrading your inventory and collecting new characters. There’s a decent level of depth here, and you’re going to have to be quick if you want your shoppers to leave satisfied.

Aero Fighter 2 ACA NeoGeo

This week’s ACA NeoGeo entry is a top-down shooter with some serious chops. There are different characters to play as, each with their own special skills. There’s a decent level of challenge, too, mainly because games were just generally more difficult in the 90’s. You’ve got multiple endings to unlock too.

Gothic Survival

A magic shooter that features endless waves of grotty, pixel-art monsters to try and take down. You add new skills to your repertoire as you fight, and every run is going to be different. It’s deliciously challenging, and while there are rough edges it’s still in active development. It’s free with two optional IAPs – one to get rid of ads and one to double your gold rewards.

Skeletal Avenger

We’ll finish off this week with this brilliant, action-packed roguelite from 10Tons. You’re playing as the titular bony warrior, who can rip off his head and throw it at enemies to perform special attacks. There’s loads of replayability, plenty of enemies and levels to take down, and enough to keep you entertained for hours.
