Developer SavySoda has kicked off a new collaboration with KennysGifs for Pixel Starships. The 8-bit management MMORPG now has an unexpected dose of cuteness, right in the middle of a galaxy full of space battles. Available on both mobile and Steam, the event wraps up on August 22nd.
But what are KennyGifs?
I’m sure you know about them already. But in case you don’t, let me introduce you to them. They’re these cute animated stickers and looping GIFs were created by London-based animation artist Kenny Mays. Known for its soft, kawaii-inspired style, they feature original animal and cartoon characters that poke fun at everyday life and relationship goals.
Characters such as Birb, Bread, and Poku, a cute chick character, have become some of the collection’s signature faces. The animations are colourful, expressive, and loop smoothly, making them popular for daily messaging and social media posts.
Much of their appeal comes from turning ordinary moments like doing laundry, drinking coffee, or getting into bed into playful animated scenes. They also focus on familiar emotions, including love, sleepiness, anger, and excitement.
So, in Pixel Starships, the collaboration arrives through a special KennyGifs battle pass. Anyone who picks it up can recruit Bread, Birb, Poku, Piko, Kojo, and Mimi. Each one will become a permanent addition to your ship’s crew once unlocked during the event.
Every crew member comes with their own personality and role. Mimi might look like the most wholesome member of the group, but can destroy enemy-controlled rooms, making boarding attacks much more dangerous for opponents.
Bread, on the other hand, has a carefree and oblivious personality, yet can rapidly charge weapons to give ships an advantage during combat. The rest of the lineup, including Birb, Poku, Piko, and Kojo, lets captains build crews featuring all six crossover characters.
So, you can now recruit the KennyGifs characters in Pixel Starships and assign them to stations, send them into battles, and explore the galaxy. Grab the game from the Google Play Store if you haven’t already.
