A Redditor has caught some PS2 Shadow Of The Colossus emulator screenshots, showing the game running on a phone with a Snapdragon 855 processor. They’ve reported getting up to 60fps at times during gameplay.
In the post, the user was able to get some shots of horse riding, and several boss fights, so were clearly in it for a decent session.
For those not familiar with the title, Shadow Of The Colossus is a masterpiece of action-adventure. You take the role of Wander, a young man who tries to resurrect a woman named Mono.
The Voices Told Me To Do It
According to a mysterious voice, he can bring Mono back to life if he kills the sixteen Colossi that roam the Forbidden Lands. Always trust weird voices you hear in ancient temples.
The gameplay focuses on the Colossi bosses. They’re massive, so it’s no matter of just running up and hitting them with a sword. If you want to beat one of these giants, you’ll have to get very close and personal.
The fights involve physically climbing up the huge creatures, using a grip metre to gauge how long you’ll be able to hold on to the creature’s fur.
You climb until you find one of the several glowing marks on the monster’s body, and drive your sword in. Of course, huge monsters don’t like being stabbed and will try and throw you off. It’s unconventional, and extremely fun.
Huge, Deep, Packed With Hidden Lore
The game is huge for its time and packed with secrets. Even approaching two decades since it first hit the shelves, its fan community still hotly discusses theories and mine data.
A remake of the game exists for the PlayStation 4, though if you wanted to play it on a regular console, you probably wouldn’t be here.
If it’s not a game you’ve tried, you should definitely give it a go. And with Android devices giving better framerates than its native console, Shadow Of The Colossus emulator gameplay may be the best way to experience it today.
