Time to answer the important questions.
What Is The Golden Whirlpool Event?
The Golden Whirlpool Event happens every hour on the hour (assuming you’re not in a half-hour timezone, then it may be on the half hour) and lasts for ten minutes.
Golden Whirlpools will appear around the map, off the coast of various islands. You can recognize them by the golden stripes in the water. You can hit the Golden Whirlpool icon on your compass to flag up all nearby.
What Do You Do With A Golden Whirlpool?
When you find a Golden Whirlpool, you can fish in it, as long as you have a Fishing Rod. If you land something, you’ll need to play the fishing minigame to reel it in, keeping the bar cursor level with the ‘fish’ that appears on the bar.
Sometimes a treasure chest will appear too, and you can hover your fishing cursor over that until its bar fills up to land a treasure chest.
Golden Whirlpool Rewards
You can get a number of regular fishing rewards from fishing in the Golden Whirlpool, but there are two different prizes exclusive to this kind of whirlpool.
- Summer Chests. These special treasure chests give our Summer Tokens when opened, and have replaced the Tormented Bosses as the main way of earning Summer Tokens that you can use to spin the Summer Gacha to win exclusive fruit skins.
- Golden Carp. This is a rare fish that may appear in the Golden Whirlpool. You can sell Golden Carp, use it for crafting, or, most importantly, you need three to get into the Fishing Tournament, with a shot at some prizes and fruit if you make the leader board.
