However, the process is over as quickly as it starts, and leaves lots of unanswered questions. Can you choose your wand? Can you customise it down the line? Now, let’s answer all of the burning questions that you may have regarding Harry Potter: Magic Awakened wands.
Can You Choose Your Wand in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened?
When you visit Ollivander, the scene is very similar to that in the book or movie. Ollivander hands you wands, and, as the saying goes, the wand chooses the wizard (or witch).
This is also true of the sorting hat scene, which basically thrusts a house on you (more on that in a separate guide) but, in that sequence at least, you can select a different house if you don’t like what you’re sorted into. This is likely as the house you choose has gameplay repercussions.
Sadly, this is not true of wand selection. What you’re given is what you end up with, and you can’t choose it. The plus side of this is that wands are purely cosmetic. You can also change your wand later.
This brings us nicely to our next topic.
Can You Customise Your Wand in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened?
Yes, you can customise your wand in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. However, it’s quite tricky to unlock the different wand types – primarily as many only drop in time-limited events.
To customise your wand, head on over to your deck and select ‘Wand Skin’ from the button at the bottom right. Then, simply select the wand that you want to use from the list.
Is It Possible to Change the Wood, Core, Flexibility, and Length of My Wand?
It’s possible that, later in the game, you can customise your wand’s appearance, but we’ve been unable to confirm that at this point.
When pressing the ‘I’ button next to ‘My Wand Details’, the game claims that “Changing the appearance of your Wand does not affect its properties”.
This certainly implies that you can customise your wand’s appearance, but it’s not currently clear how it works.
