Monster Hunter Now map screen.

Have you booted up Monster Hunter Now only to encounter nothing around you? You need my Monster Hunter Now empty map guide. This is a common issue facing plenty of players at the moment, and it is frustrating. However, there are plenty of steps you can take to fix the issue, and I’m going to detail all of the troubleshooting steps in this guide. I’ll also update it if anything changes, like the issue going away for good, or a new step that fixes it.

Monster Hunter Now is the latest game by Niantic. It takes the Pokémon GO formula, but places it in the Monster Hunter universe. You explore the real world, battling monsters and looting them for parts. You then craft new gear that makes you more powerful, allowing you to take on even more mighty monsters. If you enjoy playing with friends, this is a great game for that. You can hunt together in person!

Monster Hunter Now is available on Google Play. We’ve also got a Monster Hunter Now hammer build, Monster Hunter Now Diablos guide, and Monster Hunter Now HP regen guide.

How to Fix Monster Hunter Now Empty Map or Map Not Loading

Right, let’s go through all of the troubleshooting steps that you can take to fix the empty map or map not loading issue.

Step One: Check Your GPS Settings

First, let’s make sure that your GPS settings are okay. This is the most common reason for this issue, so it’s a great place to start. Here’s how to do so in steps:

  1. Launch settings on your Android device
  2. Find ‘Location’ or ‘Location and Security’ on the list and tap on it
  3. Then tap on ‘Monster Hunter Now’ to go into the settings for this game
  4. Check that ‘Location Access’ is enabled, as this will allow Monster Hunter Now to use your GPS
  5. Specifically, you want to make sure that you have ‘Only while using the app’ or ‘all the time’ set – it’s up to you

Step Two: Wait

If your GPS settings above are fine, then the next step is to wait on the empty screen for roughly five minutes. If it doesn’t load in, move on to step three.

Step Three: Check Your Connection and Swap if Necessary

This should be obvious, but in case it isn’t, you do need to be connected to the internet to play Monster Hunter Now. If you’re offline, you will see nothing on the map as it relies on a connection. So, if the map is empty and not loading, you may have simply lost connection.

First, check if this is the case. If you’re on 4G/5G, check you have a signal. If not, go somewhere where you will have one.

If you do, try swapping to a wifi connection, or vice versa. If both of these don’t work, try turning the wifi or data on and off to see if that fixes it.

Step Four: Restart the App

Okay, getting to the nuclear options now! If you’re still struggling with this issue, restart the app. That involves closing it down completely and then relaunching it.

Step Five: Reinstall the App

The nuclear option. You have to uninstall the app completely from your phone and then reinstall it. That should fix the issue once and for all.

Warning: Make sure you have linked your account to Google to ensure you don’t lose your progress. To check you have done so, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on your avatar (bottom left)
  2. Hit ‘Settings’
  3. Scroll down to ‘Account’
  4. In ‘Linked Accounts’, make sure that ‘Google’ (or Apple) is ticked
  5. You will know your account is linked if there’s a ‘Lot out’ button
