How To Play Roblox Dig – A Beginner’s Guide

The Basics

The concept of Dig is pretty simple. Dig up items from the ground. Sell the items at a shop. Use the money to buy new upgrades to improve your digging game. Like Fisch, but buried treasure rather than ocean life. Easy right? Well, there’s a bit of a challenge to it. Let’s get into a few details.

How To Dig

Starting a dig is easy. Go to a patch of ground with your shovel and hit LMB. You should see this UI pop up on the bottom of your screen. This is where the game gets challenging.

  • To dig the treasure you need to deplete the progress bar (on the left of the screen) to the bottom.
  • If the heart on the bottom bar reaches the left, you’ll lose your item back into the earth. The heart drops constantly after you take your first dig.
  • You advance the progress bar, you need to hit LMB while the cursor is covering in the section of the main bar that looks like ground. A normal hit advances your progress, then has a short cooldown before you can strike with your shovel again.
  • The best place to score a hit is in the dark bar in the center of that section. This results in a Strong strike, which not only advances your Progress Bar it also restores your heart bar to the top, and has no cooldown before you can strike again.
  • If you manage to take out all the Progress Bar, you’ll pull a treasure out of the ground.

Treasures

There are a ton of Treasure items out in the world. There are different details about them that determine their value.

  • Type – There are lots of different kinds of item.
  • Age – Some items, and item types, are older than others.
  • Rarity – There are different categories of items, usually, the rarer they are, the harder they are to unearth with the digging minigame.
  • Mutation – Some items have different modifiers, like big, transparent, or even shiny.

Shovels

Shovels are the main tool of the trade in Dig. You can purchase the early game shovels from Rocky in Fox Town. Each shovel has its own stats, and getting a better shovel is the best way to improve chances to snag rare items.

The early game shovels are as follows:

  • Wooden Shovel
    You start with this.
  • Training Shovel
Basic shovel. Higher control, but very low Luck.
  • Toy Shovel
A faster shovel with better Luck.
  • Copper Shovel
Faster, stronger, not as lucky as the Toy Shovel.
  • Rock Shovel
You can break through rocks with this. It also damages bosses fairly well. No use on dirt surfaces.
  • Lucky Shovel
Stats are mediocre, but it’s pretty lucky.

Charms

These are items you can equip to improve your stats a little.

The early game charms are as follows:

  • Training Glove
    • Boosts Luck
    • Boosts Endurance
  • Lucky Bell
    • Boosts Luck
  • Rock Pounder
