As you play, you quickly outgrow your early-game wearables. Not only that, but with limited equipment slots, it becomes messy keeping hold of weak artefacts. This guide tells you how to sell equipment in Prospecting. Let’s get into it.

How To Sell Equipment in Prospecting

First, select ‘Prospectors Kit’ from your hotbar, and then choose Equipment from the pop-up menu. From here, unequip any Equipment you want to sell.

Once in your inventory, make sure that your equipment isn’t favourited. Now, hold it in your hand and finally speak to any Merchant, and select the first option, ‘I’d like to sell this’. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to preview its value before selling, so make sure you’re certain!

Reforging vs Selling

Reforging costs cash to perform and never guarantees desirable results. If you’re selling equipment because you don’t like the stat outcome, it’s worth weighing your options before proceeding.

  • Selling – Immediate cash, usually valued higher than what you spent to forge the item.
    • Pros: Reuse earned cash to craft new and better equipment
    • Cons: Lost materials.
  • Reforging – Costs money and doesn’t guarantee higher stats.
    • Pros: May get higher stats for cheaper than if you re-craft.
    • Cons: Undesirable stats are part of the risk.

Gold Rings – The Early Game Money Maker

Believe it or not, Gold Rings are an excellent money maker in the early game. Gold appears in abundance no matter where you pan, and to craft a Gold Ring, you’ll only need $2,000 and x5 Gold.

This may seem an expensive investment if you’re just starting, but if you forge a Golden Ring that’s 3* or higher, it’ll have a higher selling value than its initial crafting price. This method likely works for other easily crafted artefacts throughout the game, but this is the only one I have experience with. If you know of more, feel free to comment them below.
