What Do I Mean By Most Underrated Pets in Grow a Garden?

Certain pets receive far too much praise, or maybe I’m simply a hater. But, seeing trading servers rotate the same few pets made me realise how underrated others are, despite their insane abilities. So, discard your adoration for the Owls, Moon Cat, Dragonfly, Raccoon, Foxes, Queen Bee, etc, for now, and let’s get into my top 3 most underrated pets!

First Pet – Mole

The real MVP of my Garden is the humble mole. This now-unobtainable pet hailed from the Night Egg with a 22% hatch chance.

What makes it so special is its skill, which is unlike any other pet. Every 80 seconds, the Mole digs into the ground and unearths free Gears or Sheckles. You’re always guaranteed something. Despite commonly finding a few thousand Sheckles, the Mole has saved me from needing to buy Gear for… Well, since I hatched it.

I’ve been able to perform the Sprinkler Method for free thanks to my Mole, making it an underdog when enlisting profitable pets.

Second Pet – Giant Ant

Often overshadowed by the Dragonfly, the Giant Ant hatches from the Bug Egg with a 30% chance. Its ability is more luck-based, but if you have enough crops or enough ants, you’re basically guaranteed to luck out.

During harvest, the Giant Ant has a 10% chance to duplicate the crop, with an additional +5% chance to duplicate candy-based crops. Yes. Candy-based. This means if you have a Candy Blossom, which remains the meta plant and most profitable, you could be doubling your money per harvest!

That said, rarer plants duplicate less often. But, like I said, if you have enough of them, you’re bound to get lucky eventually.

Third Pet – Orange Tabby

The Orange Tabby is an upgraded version of the Cat, and a lesser version of the Moon Cat. However, given the topic of this article, I can’t use the Moon Cat in placement. My justification? The Moon Cat is now unobtainable, so this is the next best thing!

With a 33.33% hatch chance from the Uncommon Egg, this beginner-friendly pet has a great passive considering it’s so early-game. Every 90 seconds, the cat will nap for 15 seconds; during this, all new fruit within 15 studs of the pet will grow 1.5x larger.

As we know, fruits are sold by weight and mutation. So, whilst this pet doesn’t mutate your crops, it’s a great way to earn additional income from heavier and more impressive crops.
