Tales of Tanorio Gym 1

Gym 1 introduces you to Rya, the Fighting-style trainer located within Nikido City’s Stadium Star. Being the first Gym, she isn’t too much of a threat, but you should still plan your team accordingly to counter hers well.

Rya’s Team

Rya has a team of three Tanorians to battle yours which are the following:

  • Bellbuzz – Level 16
  • Manxo – Level 18
  • Dynastogun – Level 20

Bellbuzz is a dual-type between Bug and Fighting. This means any Tanorian with Bug and Fire movesets are fairly effective, and these types can be available from the earlier routes. Calypillar can be obtained from as early as route 1 and has Bug properties to counter Bellbuzz. As for fire Taborians, sadly, the only option is the starter, Charcile.

Manxo is a pure fighting type meaning Air and Bug types deal more damage with type advantage. Once again, Calypillar may be the star of this battle, but if you need a swap out then Eyaspire, also found on Route 1 is an Air type who can take over the combat.

Your final foe, Dynastogun is Rya’s breadwinning Tanorian. This fierce opponent is a dual-type Bug and Fighting. At level 20, this Tanorian is tanky too. It has a huge weakness to Air (x4), but any movesets including Fire, Psychic and Fairy will deal (x2) damage as well!

The Best Counter Team For Gym 1

Based on the Tanorians you’ll be facing here, I recommend combining a team of Fire, Air and Bug types. The ideal team to tackle Gym 1 consist of Charcile, Eyaspire, and Calypillar. Though it wouldn’t hurt to get some backup Tanorians to bulk out your team.
