What Do Gnomes Do in Grow a Garden?

Gnomes are fun collectables, and that’s about it. You sit them in your garden, they look cool, and they have nice hats.

Ok, but seriously, Gnomes don’t provide any garden buffs in Grow a Garden. They’re purely cosmetic collectables, like figurines! If you want to enhance your garden and add some life to it, I recommend hatching eggs for pets.

So why bother collecting Gnomes? Well, some people are completionists and like the challenge of uncovering them all. Plus, they are pretty cute and unique. Players who collect Gnomes can use them around their garden to create fun scenes and storytelling, kind of like Gnomeo and Juliet!

How To Get Gnomes

Now and then, a server-wide notice will ping to let everybody know a Travelling Merchant has arrived! Currently, there are 5 possible Merchants, including the Gnome Merchant who resides between the Seed Shop and the first garden plot.

When he arrives, the Gnome Merchant will hang around for 30 minutes before despawning, giving players a chance to browse his boxes and buy his wares. Similar to when buying garden furniture, Gnomes come in different rarity boxes with different pricing and have opening wait times.

Like other cosmetic boxes, each one has a variety of Gnome possibilities, but you’ll only receive one depending on your RNG luck.
