AKA to Blue could be the Android bullet-hell schmup you’ve been waiting for

This is a solid week for new game releases, with Middle Earth: Shadow of War, Modern Combat Versus, and Ticket to Ride: First Journey all arriving on Google Play. However, AKA to Blue might just be the most exciting of the lot.

AKA to Blue is a bullet-hell shooter in the spirit of Cave’s awesome – and not presently available – bullet-hell shooters like Dodonpachi and Espgaluda.

That means it’s a non-stop kaleidoscopic firework display of bullets and baddies, all presented in typically breathless anime fashion.

Don’t dodge, bomb!” screams the Google Play description, in reference to the fact that you can cancel out your enemies’ attacks with your bomb to earn high scores and speed up your recharge times.

Developer Hiroyuki Kimura promises a beginner-friendly, professionally voice-acted, rock guitar-scored romp through five challenging stages. Who are we to argue?

You may want to wait for the reviews before taking the plunge, however, as AKA to Blue costs a relatively steep £7.49. Download it here.
