Following its PC and console releases, Blue Fire is now out on Android. Developer Robi Studios has also rolled out a quality-of-life update with improvements and refinements for the mobile version. The game is known for platforming, quick combat encounters, and notoriously challenging Void stages.
Blue Fire takes place in the fallen kingdom of Penumbra
It’s a dark and mysterious world filled with interconnected regions, hidden secrets, enemies, collectibles, and ancient temples. The game’s platforming challenges draw inspiration from classic 3D action-adventure games.
In the game, you gradually master fast and fluid traversal abilities. There are deadly traps, intricate platforming gauntlets, and demanding obstacle courses. It also has dangerous enemies featuring different fighting styles and a lineup of powerful bosses, including the deadly knights of the darkness.
Now, let’s talk about the game’s most notable feature, The Voids. They are hidden entrances scattered across Penumbra that lead to surreal platforming trials. These challenges push movement mechanics to their limits and reward players who can survive their toughest tests.
Progression depends on discovering stronger swords, hidden spirits, valuable loot, and new abilities. As you advance, you can upgrade equipment and expand your movement options. You can revisit areas after acquiring new powers, opening routes to previously inaccessible locations and hidden secrets.
Inspired by many
Over the years, Blue Fire has often drawn comparisons to several popular games. There’s a bit of Hollow Knight in it, a bit of Dark Souls, a bit of A Hat in Time, and, of course, some of Zelda, too. What makes the game unique is its platforming and Void challenges.
You can get your hands on the game by getting it from the Google Play Store.
