The chain restaurant Denny’s is promoting their new “Greatest Hits Remixed” menu using three classic Atari games. Dennny’s Atari Remix takes Asteroids, Centipede, and Breakout, and renamed and re-themed them with food found at Denny’s.
Asteroids now titled Hashteroids has you shooting ketchup at potatos, Centipede, titled Centipup is just like the original but with a crazy story. It involves players shooting magical syrup at creatures of the Wonderfood Forest. Take-Out, formerly Break-Out, uses an egg to destroy Denny’s food.
While some may enjoy it for nostalgia, hopefully this advertisement game, which is of course free, will let kids play these classic titles for the first time, albeit in the dumbest way possible. According to Denny’s chief brand officer “this partnership with Atari allows us to extend the fun beyond our menu, and add a new spin on classic gameplay,”
