Craft Warriors was a beloved sandbox-style strategy game where players built towns and characters. Launched in 2018, it unfortunately shut down in July 2024. But now, it’s back! Well… kind of. Translimit has rolled out Craft Warriors Frontier on Android, which is more of a sequel to the original.

A sequel rather than a revival

This time, the universe is shifting the focus towards real-time cooperative strategy. While the original was a sandbox-like strategy title, Craft Warriors Frontierreworks its core systems so that success now depends more heavily on coordination with other players. Yes, the game is built around teamwork.

The setting revolves around restoring the ancient city of Skyland, where you rebuild and upgrade facilities as part of developing the town. Combat and progression are associated closely to party formation. You get a range of weapons that you can upgrade and equip.

You dive into combat against a bunch of demon warriors. Early encounters involve repeated attacks, taking hits, and eventually earning a first victory that rewards you with your initial chest. You can access core areas which include your island, the guild, and a spooky locked dungeon.

From there, you get to fight on other islands, across environments where you have to jump to reach new battle zones. The hubs feature interactive details such as dorms and tables that your characters can sit on.

Craft Warriors Frontier is more action-oriented than the previous title

Despite the changes, there sure is a sense of loss for elements left behind from the old game. It’s a remake that reinterprets the original ideas from its predecessor. You can check it out on the Google Play Store. It’s free to play.

Both the titles (previous and current) have been brought to mobile by Translimit. Their mobile games’ catalogue includes titles like Puzzrama and Brain Dots. While the studio never mentioned the exact reason for shutting down the original title abruptly, the community had been demanding to bring the game back. And now, in one way or the other, their wish has been granted.
