Dandy Ace has arrived on mobile. The 2021 hit roguelike action dungeon crawler from developer Mad Mimic brings its ‘magic’ to handheld devices. The premise revolves around an illusion gone wrong, with the titular character, an extravagant magician.

The setting is interesting

Dandy Ace, the magician, has been trapped in a cursed mirror by the Green-Eyed Illusionist Lele. The palace that surrounds him shifts with every attempt. The only way out is to keep diving into its changing structure and fight through its strange creatures and outrageous bosses.

You hope each run builds enough strength to get one step closer to freedom. The entire loop depends on trying, dying and trying again while holding onto permanent upgrades that eventually tilt the odds.

With its 2D isometric approach, the rooms fill with attacks from all directions, while the colourful aesthetic brings a bit of theatrical flair. The core idea is the magic card system, where every attack and ability comes from a card that can be slotted in different ways.

There are more than a thousand possible combinations. The Dandy Ace mobile edition ships with all content unlocked at the start, so you get to experiment with everything immediately. The team also included assistants and unconventional allies from the earlier versions.

Gather shards, gold, and whatever else the palace hides in Dandy Ace Mobile

Since its launch on PC, the game has drawn comparisons with Hades. That’s due to the procedurally generated structure and rapid combat. Even so, Lele’s ever changing palace, with its nonlinear progression and peculiar enemy roster, makes Dandy Ace quite unique.
