East2West Games has dropped a new game called Decarnation on Android and iOS. Set in 1990s Paris, it’s a psychological horror puzzle with pixel art and a poetic presentation. This one definitely has more introspective than explosive!

What’s the story in Decarnation?

It follows Gloria, a cabaret dancer whose life has collapsed in every sense. Her career has stalled, her relationships have disintegrated, and she’s lost sight of who she is.

Then, out of nowhere, a mysterious benefactor offers her a chance to create art again, and she accepts. But what begins as an opportunity turns into a descent through the darkest corners of her mind. It’s a place where reality and illusion melt into each other.

Every part of the game feels like a distorted reflection of Gloria’s psyche. One moment, you’re exploring a bizarre theatre that seems alive. And the next, you’re trapped in fragmented realities full of shifting symbols and half-remembered fears.

Visually, the pixel art is stunning in its discomfort. It carries the elegance of a stage play that’s falling apart, full of vivid colours and sharp contrasts. The tone and structure pay homage to psychological thriller masters like Satoshi Kon, known for Perfect Blue, and David Lynch, the mind behind Mulholland Drive. Watch the Decarnation trailer below.

It’s a world that’s personal, uncomfortable, and deeply symbolic

Monsters in Decarnation aren’t random enemies but physical embodiments of shame, denial, loneliness, and self-doubt. Each encounter reflects an internal battle made tangible, turning every victory into a quiet act of redemption.

The developers describe Decarnation as a reflection of confronting oneself when escape is no longer an option. It’s about the universal struggle to face the parts of ourselves we’d rather bury.

The team says their inspiration came from themes of trauma, self-identity, and inner conflict. And they hope players will find emotional resonance in Gloria’s unravelling journey.

Get the game from the Google Play Store for $3.99.
