Last week we mentioned an interesting problem some users were facing when logging into Gameloft Live. When they would log in, it would actually log them into someone’s account instead of their own at times. We reached out to Gameloft about this and got word back just now that the issue is solved.
So if you are interested in what was happening, here are the details:
Upon investigation the issue has been isolated to specific non-3G Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the HTC Flyer. Gameloft LIVE checks if the device is already registered in our database to connect the user automatically, but this match failed on these devices particular non-3G Android devices. The issue has been fixed on our side and there is no need for any updates on the customer side. We have deactivated the auto log-in at launch for these devices now, so users will need to enter their login and password when launching each game. There will be a “remember me” option which is valid for each particular game. When launching a different game for the first time, users will need to login again.
We are in the process of developing a permanent solution where users can auto log-in on Gamelof LIVE on these devices for new games as well. The team at Gameloft is committed to providing a reliable and secure service to bring our fans together and will keep working to make Gameloft LIVE a great network for our community.
So there you have it. While the current fix is only temporary, at least there won’t be any updates you’ll need to worry about, for now anyways. Just in time for the long weekend! Feel free to spread the word so other people having this issue will know it’s fixed.
